Our History

Blue Moon Backyard and Pool is a privately held company founded by Gregory Thorpe in 2001 and is headquartered in Leesburg Florida. In 2017, the company introduced two other equal partners, Christopher Rottermond, and Joel Rottermond. The company currently provides new pool construction, pool remodeling, pool maintenance services, pool repair, and screened enclosures. The majority volume of revenue is from new pool construction while leaving room for diversification and expansion of revenue streams.

Currently, the company received the majority of work through word-of-mouth referrals by previous clients or builders primarily focused in Central Florida and The Villages area. Blue Moon has earned a trustworthy reputation amongst a challenged demographic region through providing an exemplary customer experience from beginning to continuing maintenance. The superior level of service is accomplished by 30+ employees and many trusted subcontractors.

Greg Thorpe

Owner/ President

Greg Thorpe is the President and Owner of Blue Moon Backyard and Pool, a company he founded in 2001. A lifelong resident of Central Florida, Greg has over 20 years of experience in the design and construction of pools. In addition to his expertise in pool construction, he is also licensed in screen cage and gas construction. Greg is deeply committed to his community and has served on numerous non-profit boards, contributing to the betterment of Leesburg and surrounding areas.

Christopher Rottermond

Owner/ President

Christopher Rottermond has been the CEO of Blue Moon Backyard & Pools since 2017. He brings a diverse background, including vocational training as a CAD engineer and years of experience in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work. Chris also has extensive experience in local government, managing building maintenance, road construction, arborist work, and landscaping. After moving to Florida, he operated Rottermond Pool & Spa before merging it with Blue Moon in 2017. Chris stays current with industry trends by attending trade shows and is working towards adding another pool builder’s license to the company’s credentials. Blue Moon Backyard & Pools is actively involved in the community, supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County, being a member of the Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce, and backing local youth sports teams.
